Welcome to the online home for Minis of Miami. Our community is united by our passion for Minis and is fueled by the motoring spirit. A legend that spans almost half a century draws a diverse group of people who love the Mini for its performance, its character, its triumphant history, its style and so much more.
Minis of Miami was born out of two groups. In 2002, Marcos & Sharon Meilan of Florida MINI met Peter Diez of Miniature Cars of Miami. They had a vision of merging the two groups to build a car club that celebrates all Minis! The classic Mini’s basic body design was virtually unchanged between 1959 and 2000, through the ownerships of British Motor Company, Leyland and Rover. In 2002 the MINI was redesigned and released by BMW. Some purists didn’t accept the BMW MINI as a “real” Mini so the group had growing pains stemming from this conflict. But the vision of the founders remained the same, recognizing that the two groups are inextricably tied. The new MINI, although different in appearance, takes all the distinguishing design cues from the original. Many Mini enthusiasts own both types. As the foundation of the club was established, the club gained exposure through participation in car shows and parades, magazine features and a club website.
Minis of Miami now has over 175 members, many of whom own multiple Minis. Members come from Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Individuals, as well as couples, enjoy Mini activities with us. We encourage families to participate in events. We have a core group of friendly members ready to welcome the new members who join each meet.
We get together every Thursday night for Mini camaraderie. Our customized Minis always steal the show with their charming character and stylish looks at area car shows. We blow away the competition in autocross with the Mini’s incomparable maneuverability. Most members have added performance enhancements. Some of them have proven the power out on the track. Our Minis have starred in holiday parades, including the televised Junior Orange Bowl Parade. Once or twice a year we cruise down to the Keys for some laid back fun in the sun. Minis of Miami hosts an annual BBQ that draws enthusiasts from all over the state. Our Mini Clinics also draw the crowds for hands on experience with tuning, customizing, and restoring.
Minis of Miami participates in the Sunshine Mini online community to stay connected to Mini enthusiasts across Florida. The message board is another place to talk about your Mini long after your friends have grown tired of the ranting and raving about how fun and exciting it is to own a Mini. Since you can’t always be on the road, you may need to visit this website often to get your Mini fix.
